Art Therapy – Quiet Healing

As a human, you are a being with a unity of thoughts, emotions and will.

If this unity becomes unbalanced, it can disrupt your physical and emotional wellbeing.

About Me

I have an arts degree in scenography and costume design from the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. I have also studied art history at the Stockholm University and am a certified art therapist and a member of FAKT – the association of anthroposophical art therapists. In addition to this, I am licensed by AnthroMed.

I am an art therapist as well as a practising artist.

For a number of years, I worked as an art therapist at a care facility with an anthroposophical focus.

About Art Therapy

Art therapy is used for

Development and Health

One of the dangers of the modern world is that we may be losing the human capacity to create mental imagery. Artificial images are everywhere and are shown in a steady stream. Even if we wanted to, we can't avoid them. Creating an artistic, healing process can help us to develop deeper, more holistic emotional experiences.

Preventing Crisis and Illness

We may not always be aware of it, but in the long run, our materialistic view of the world can deeply erode our emotional lives. That can make us less grounded and, in some instances, deeply depressed.

Reattachment and Attachment: Antisocial Personality Disorders

For this type of treatment, we can use a number of exercises which are adapted for the individual and designed to allow the person to reattach and to develop healthier habits.

Acute & Chronic Somatic, Psychosomatic & Psychological Disorders

For this type of therapy, we use individually selected exercises without making demands of the person, e.g. dynamic drawing, where the pen or brush doesn't leave the page. From this movement, shapes emerge. This creates comfortable and relaxing therapy, without demands. The belief that something will emerge. Restful movement.

Regaining Self Control and Capabilities

Stress is a chronic illness in our society, and it is a state which among other things can lead to sleeplessness. In art therapy, the exercises are adapted to suit the individual, in this case to encourage concentration, a joyous flow and holistic balance.

Ours is a stressful time with a lot of "have-tos".

Colours and shapes are tools and aids which art therapy uses to help you access the self-healing power within you; the self-healing power which we all have within ourselves.

As a human, you are a being with a unity of thoughts, emotions and will. If this unity becomes unbalanced, it can disrupt your physical and emotional wellbeing. Painting, drawing and observing art are effective tools to help restore a person's inner unity.

No prior knowledge is required – the creating is the important part, not the completed picture.

Within art therapy, we look forwards. Based on where you are in your life, I suggest exercises which can help you move forwards. In individual art therapy, we spend the first meeting talking about you and your wishes, and you'll create one or two spontaneous pictures. Using these in combination with your information, I select individual exercises for you. Art therapy is a quiet form of therapy, where we only speak about what is happening in the image.

Ours is a stressful time with a lot of "have-tos". That's why recovery is so important, and art therapy is an excellent recovery and relaxation tool.
